God is Merciful:
God’s Word says that He is rich in Mercy. Mercy is the quality of being full of compassion, having goodness to all, showing kindness towards others, and forgiving wrongs. He freely bestows His Mercy to His creation according to His will (Romans 9:15). God’s Mercy extends to believers and unbelievers alike, in that, we as humans do not always reap the full measure of what our sins have sown and deserve. God’s Mercy reaches down to a world stained by sin and saves for Himself a people that gives Him Glory. Once we know and understand that all of our sin is against God and God alone (Psalm 51:4) we can become more grateful for His tender mercies in our lives. God’s mercies and compassions are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23) and they never fail because they are an extension of who He is; eternal.
“God’s mercy is so great that you may sooner drain the sea of its water, or deprive the sun of its light, or make space too narrow, than diminish the great mercy of God.” ~ Charles Spurgeon
Scriptures:
Psalm 86:5 “For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.”
Titus 3:5-7 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
Ephesians 2:3-5 “Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”
Be Encouraged:
Brother’s and Sister’s in Christ, if you can see to read these words, it is a mercy of God. If you can breathe, it is a mercy of God. If you can eat today, it is a mercy of God. If you have clothes to wear, it is a mercy of God. The fact that God did not cast your soul into Hell at your first transgression against Him is a display of His Mercy in your life. His daily mercies preserve, sustain, protect, encourage, and strengthen you to live this life for Him. Let us then show mercy to our brothers and sisters in Christ and to God’s creation. Let us be known as a people who are full of compassion and love for one another and for those who are miserable and in need of mercy. We remain on this earth to display and proclaim the Mercy of God and to tell others the good news of the Gospel. Let us be thankful and acknowledge His tender mercies in our lives that are brand new every morning. We pray that these timeless words of this wonderful hymn of the church be a blessing to you:
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
-Great is thy faithfulness, 1923
