Pure in Heart:
The word for Heart in this passage can be thought of as our mind, character, inner self, will, or intention. The word Pure can be thought of as clean, unstained, guiltless, innocent, or upright. When we put the two together, Pure in Heart, that is to say the mind is clean, the character is unstained, the inner self is guiltless, the will is innocent, and the intentions are upright. It is only by the presence of the Holy Spirit within us that we can be Pure in Heart, but understand this, until we are with Christ physically in His Kingdom we remain here in this body on this Earth and we will constantly war against the flesh. Paul at the end of Romans Chapter 7 wrote that we as believers of God will struggle with the flesh for the rest of our earthly nature. He wrote in Romans 7:14-15KJV, ”For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.” Here Paul is speaking of that inner struggle that the Pure in Heart have. Although the Pure in Heart want to be unstained, they cannot due to the presence of the corrupted fleshly nature that remains within us. One way to know if you are among the Pure in Heart is to ask yourself, when perverse, or prideful, or hateful, or murderous thoughts seep into your thinking as a result of the fallen flesh, are you quickly convicted of them and do you quickly repent and run to God?

Revelation 22:3-4KJV
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: 4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
Be Encouraged:
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, those who are Pure in Heart will see God! This is a fact that must be celebrated! In His commentary on Matthew 5:8, William Macdonald comments, that the Pure in Heart will see God in several ways. “First, the Pure in Heart will see God now through fellowship in the Word and the Spirit. Second, they shall see God in the person of Jesus when He comes again. Third, they shall see God for all Eternity.” What a blessed hope that the Pure in Heart have, both now and in eternity. Although our flesh is constantly warring against us both in mind and body we can have hope that Christ will one day deliver us from this body of death Romans 7:24-25, “24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” Brothers and Sisters, let us seek to have more of a Pure Heart. Let us be very quick to repent of any thought that is not of God (2 Corinthians 10:5). Let us seek Pureness of mind and flesh with our time. Let us pray words of repentance every time we come to our Holy God in prayer because remember, God can see all things and knows all things.
