Whether you are a freshmen at your local community college or a senior at one of Americas top universities, why not make good use of your spare time and share the life saving, life giving Gospel Message with your fellow students and professors. Evangelizing while in college is one of the most needed and most rewarding places to minister the Gospel.
Below are some helpful ideas and tips on how you can reach your college with the Truth of Jesus Christ:
1. Pass out / Leave Gospel Tracts
- To other students
- On desks/seats
- In study rooms
- Slip one under your Professors Door
- On Stair Cases
- In Elevators
- Vending Machines
- In a library book
- On a computer
- Cafeteria
- Tables and Benches
- On Parked Cars
- Bulletin Boards
- Anywhere and Everywhere…
Tips: Gospel Tracts are a great way to communicate the Gospel message to someone. Try to find ones that will grab the reader’s attention and keep it. Many college students are very distracted and under immense stress. Oftentimes, they will not take the time to read large brochures or extensive literature. Tracts that are to the point and easy to read work best from our experience. Also, put some thought and prayer into where you distribute them. Find a campus map and mark off the areas where you distributed them in the past. Once you circle back to the same areas, perhaps pass out a different Gospel Tract. Be faithful and keep up the good work!
2. Make Signs and Post them
- In Cafeteria
- Bulletin Boards
- Club Rooms
- In the Parking Lot
- At the Library
Tips: At some colleges this may require permission by the ASB Office. Reach out to them and see what the rules are at your particular school. Bring them a sample of what you want to post and pray for God’s favor. They may also have a list and map of the locations of all of the bulletin boards designated for signs. Make your signs in such a way that communicates their need for the Savior. You can post an encouraging statement like, “Your Life Matters”, and then put a QR Code link at the bottom where they can find out more information.
3. Start Conversations about the Gospel with:
- Fellow students
- Campus Staff
- Professors
- Visitors
- Anyone and Everyone…
Tips: Be bold and know that God is with you wherever you go. He walks with you and will give you the words to say. Don’t be afraid of challenging questions. If you don’t know the answer right away, be humble and tell them that you think that is a great question and you will get back to them with an answer. You don’t need to feel as if you hold the burden of proof all the time. Research the question, ask your pastors, email us, get the help you need.
4. Start / Join a Christian Club
- Find the campus club directory
- Attend a meeting
- Talk to the Leaders
- Meet with other Evangelists
Tips: Most, if not all colleges have some sort of Christian Club on campus. Meet with them and see what they are all about. Some clubs are purely social, while others are more evangelistic. If your campus doesn’t have a Christian Club, start one yourself. Gear your club in the direction of evangelism and discipleship. Look for local churches/ pastors in the area that will come and speak.
5. Start a Bible Study
- Ask fellow classmates
- Professors
- Campus staff
- Or members of your Church
Tips: A Bible study is a great place for other people to open up and ask the deeper questions of life. Go through a book in the Bible or a study guide. Be consistent. Start a group text for members to post questions and for you to coordinate meeting locations.
6. Open Air Preach by:
- Busy walk ways
- Popular hangout places
- At gatherings
Tips: Although not needed, it is helpful to have a group of faithful believers by your side while doing this. Try to find a spot where the people are at. Ask your fellow believers to pass out Gospel Tracts or Bibles to the passerby’s while you or other believers preach the Gospel to the crowd. You can use speakers that will amplify your voice or just speak as loud as you can. Be sure to speak of sin’s bondage and how they can be free in Christ Alone.
In Summary:
Ministering the Gospel while in college is a must for any and all professed followers of Christ. The only thing that would stop you is fear of man and the uncertainty of tomorrow. Be bold and stand up for what you believe in. Don’t let a degree become an idol that silences you from sharing the cure for sin, Jesus Christ. College for many is a time of finding yourself and branching out to try new things, some of which are sinful. But you as a follower of Christ are different. You are there to glorify and honor Him and Him alone. We here at Ambassadors 4 Truth are praying for you while you are in college and pray that you stand upon the Rock, Jesus Christ. There will be days when they make you doubt His existence and cause you to question your path, but run to His Word and allow it to renew your mind daily. If you ever have any questions or need Gospel Tracts, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We have many years of experience ministering on college campus’ and would love to help you minister to yours.
