The Grace of God:
God by His very nature is Gracious. Anytime we as sinful and rebellious mankind breathe fresh air, eat from His earth, or drink a cold glass of water, is all proof of God’s Grace at work in our lives. His Word reveals, “The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy” Psalm 145:8. However, there is a greater Grace of God that surpasses the common daily Grace He so freely gives to all mankind. It is the Grace that was displayed on the Cross of Calvary. It is there where we see that His Grace is Free (to all those who put their trust in Christ), His Grace is Mediated (It is only through Christ that His Grace can be received, John 14:6, 1 Timothy 2:5), His Grace is Far Reaching (It is extended to and made real in the lives of people from every tribe and tongue around the world, Titus 2:11), and His Grace is Saving (God’s Grace saves believers in Him from God Himself. Apart from His Grace, mankind can only expect His righteous judgment and wrath on sin and disobedience).
“In the New Testament grace means God’s love in action towards men who merited the opposite of love. Grace means God moving heaven and earth to save sinners who could not lift a finger to save themselves.” ~ J. I. Packer
Scriptures:
Psalm 145:8 “The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.”
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Titus 2:11–15 “ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
Be Encouraged:
Brothers and Sisters, if you have believed in Christ, then you are a recipient of the Grace of God. Take heart and know that the light of His countenance shines upon your life daily. Your sins have been forgiven and paid for by our Savior, Jesus Christ. You can now be a partaker of all the promises of God, which are “Yes and Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20). You can now rest in Christ’s finished work on the Cross, and experience the true peace of God, no matter your circumstances. If you are in Christ, His Grace has not only sought you and saved you, but is daily keeping you from falling away. Therefore, honor God with the members of your body, with your thoughts, speech, and actions. Let us praise Him for His Grace in our lives every moment. Tell everyone that you can about the Grace of God and live a life that reflects the Grace of God with all reverence and humility. We don’t need to work for it, we can’t buy it, and we don’t deserve it. Let us model God’s Grace to others; being slow to anger, full of compassion, and merciful with generosity. This is God’s work of Grace in us on display.
