Faithfulness of God:
The Old and New Testaments define God’s character of Faithfulness to be: firmness, steadfastness, fidelity, reliability, and trustworthiness. God’s Word is full of proof of His Faithfulness. Psalm 36:5 “Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.” As we have learned before, God is a God who does not change (Immutability of God). He was faithful yesterday, is faithful today, and will be faithful tomorrow. God’s Word is Faithful, in that, what He says will always come to pass in His perfect timing. He does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17), but remains constant and faithful. God is faithful when dealing with His people. He saves them, He keeps them, He disciplines them, and He will bring them to glory. When God chastises us for our frequent sins it is His faithfulness that is wielded. Let us cherish this truth and humble our hearts when receiving it. He will never let go of His own.
Scriptures:
Psalm 36:5 “Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.”
1 Corinthians 1:9 “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”
2 Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.”
Be Encouraged:
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, there are seasons of life that are not easy, seasons that try our faith in our Faithful God. Oftentimes during seasons such as these, we cannot trace the hand of God in our lives; we don’t see how His faithfulness is bringing us through our darkest hours. Take courage and read the words of this blessed hymn:
God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.
“God Moves in A Mysterious Way” by William Cowper
Please meditate on the divine attribute of God’s Faithfulness this week and think on the times He was faithful in your life. Think on the times when you could not trace His loving hand at the moment of your storm, but later saw how He brought you through with increased faith and a greater sense of who He is. Please write it down and consider sharing it with a brother or sister who is struggling in their faith. Also, consider emailing it to us to encourage us as well.
“Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.” (1 Peter 4:19).
“When we trustfully resign ourselves, and all our affairs into God’s hands, fully persuaded of His love and faithfulness, the sooner shall we be satisfied with His providences and realize that, He does all things well.” ~AW Pink
