Attributes of God: Omnipresence

Attributes of God: The Omnipresence of God

Omnipresence of God = God is Everywhere Present

During our most demanding days here on earth it would be nice to have the ability to be in two places at once, but, unfortunately we are limited to one place at a time. God does not have this physical limitation however. God is everywhere present. In fact, His presence fills the heavens and the earth. His eyes are in every place, beholding both evil and good. This truth can be both convicting and comforting at the same time. It is convicting, because God can see all of our movements, actions, and even knows our inner thoughts and motives. There is absolutely nothing that is hidden from His eyes. Psalm 139:2 “Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.” This truth can also be comforting, because even the quietest plea for help from one of His children is heard by Him. It is as if He is continually stretching forth His hand to not only help you, but to catch you if you start to fall.

Select Scriptures:

Psalm 139:7-10

“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”

Jeremiah 23:23–24

“Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? 24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.”

Proverbs 15:3

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”

Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

Be Encouraged:

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.” -Psalm 46:1-3

If you are in Christ today you are living in the 4 walls of the refuge of God. In other words, you live your life in the palm of His Hand. He is a God that not only sees you, but understands you, and His Holy Spirit lives within you. He knows exactly what challenges you may be facing right now and He knows the future challenges you will face. Let us Brothers and Sisters be reminded of God’s ever presence in our lives. This attribute of God is often misunderstood by many followers of Christ. Some believe that God’s presence is not in fact everywhere and that He must be invited, but this is not what scripture teaches. Scripture teaches that His presence fills the earth and that He beholds both the evil and the good. That means His presence is at your local church already and His presence is at the most vile bar/strip club. Don’t misunderstand, just because His presence fills the earth doesn’t mean He receives some sort of sinful pleasure by beholding man’s most wicked acts here on earth. He is storing up a just and appropriate amount of wrath for the Day of Judgment. One day when God Judges the world based on their righteousness (Acts 17:31), there will be nothing to stand upon by way of defending oneself because we will be judged by the one who was an eye witness to everything we did. That is why we Brothers and Sisters must cling to Christ and His finished work on the Cross and that is why we must tell others where they too can find salvation against that day.
